Facebook reaches 2.85 billion users

 



Facebook has published the fiscal results corresponding to the first quarter of the year, a period in which it has managed to reach 2,850 million active users per month, a record figure in the history of the social network and that represents an annual increase of 10% and to have added 50 million compared to the 2,800 million users it had in the last quarter of 2020.

Facebook's profits have grown 93.7% in just one year

Regarding the number of active daily users (DAU), there are already 1.88 billion people who access Facebook per day, which represents a growth of 8% compared to the same quarter of last year.

It should be noted that other social platforms that also use this metric are Pinterest, which has reported 478 million active users per day and Twitter, which, although it has not yet provided data corresponding to the first quarter of the year, in the last quarter of 2020 had 192 million users .

In total, the daily users of the "Facebook family of applications", made up of Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, are 2,720 million worldwide, which means a growth of 15% compared to the previous year.

In terms of economic performance, Facebook's profits rose 93.7% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year, reaching 9,497 million dollars (7,831 million euros).

On the other hand, revenues rose 48% , to 26,171 million dollars (21,581 million euros), mainly motivated by an increase of 146% in advertising turnover, up to 732 million dollars (603.6 million euros) .

During the communication of results, Mark Zuckerberg pointed out the development of Virtual and Augmented Reality as one of the fundamental strategic lines for the company in the future, as well as the development of stores and ecommerce on Facebook.
