Facebook has spent a year studying how to include a specific section for prayers and prayers within the social network. It would be a new type of publication where group members could offer their prayers or request prayers for other people.
The Post Prayers feature allows you to ask for and offer prayers
The function would allow to make publications in which to share prayers or request prayers through messages shared only among the members of a group. The discovery of this new function was communicated through his Twitter profile by Robert P. Jones, CEO of PRRI (Public Religion Research Institute), a non-profit organization dedicated to researching the confluence of religion, values and public life. Jones discovered the function when a pop-up appeared indicating the existence of this new feature when accessing his profile on Facebook.
The pop-up featured the new "Prayer Posts" feature, announcing that it enables members of a Facebook group to be enabled to request and offer prayers and prayers by posting a new post in that group. The group administrator has the power to decide who can create them , in addition to managing this new type of publication, as one more of the news that Facebook periodically adds to the management of its groups.
From Facebook it has been confirmed that it is a function in the testing phase, which is being carried out with select groups of users, currently limited to the United States. Although no further details have been provided, it seems reasonable to deduce that these would be groups whose subject matter is religious .
Nona Jones, director of the department of Global Relations with Religious Entities of Facebook, has issued a statement in which she declares that the social network's mission is to provide its users with the tools to build communities within the largest community that exists in the world, which includes favoring communities that have a common bond in faith.
