Pinterest has announced the launch of new features for people and businesses looking to sell products through the platform, including the ability to: tag products on Pins (Pinterest posts) and a new Pinterest Shopping API.

Pinterest will gradually make the new tools available to all users

The purpose of these new tools, according to the company, is “to create new shopping experiences for potential customers, as well as those who want to sell their products through Pinterest.”

With the new Pinterest Shopping APImerchants have access to a whole catalog of new management tools and features that: will allow you to sell your products more efficient. As Pinterest has pointed out, they can display the features of their products and their availability with 97% accuracy, providing users with up-to-date information in virtually all searches and queries they conduct.

The new product labels in Pins also allow merchants to create their content with scenes from everyday life as store Pins. This allows them to add products from their catalog to images that aren’t exactly product images.

In this content, users can directly buy products that they find in the images. According to Pinterest, the purchase intent increases by 70% when using this type of tool, as evidenced by the first tests it conducted.

On the other hand, Pinterest has also added video tools to its product catalogs. This allows merchants to provide potential customers with a view of their products from multiple angles before making a purchase decision.

Finally, Pinterest has also launched a “Shop” tab on business profiles, which makes it easier and faster for merchants to display their shopable products, with updated descriptions and an interface adapted to mobile navigation.

All of these tools have already launched in the United States and will reach the rest of the markets in the coming weeks or months, without Pinterest specifying dates.
